Executive Summary:

Nestled in the heart of Tennessee, at an hour’s drive southeast of Nashville, lies one of the nation’s premier

event grounds. Since 2002, Great Stage Park has been the home of the world-famous Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival. Its 650-acre halcyon setting and flexible layout make it an ideal location for a music festival as vast as Bonnaroo as well as many other events and recreational activities. In this paper, we explore its potential in multiple-land-use for events but also for sustainable farming/food production, and eco-tourism. Using strategies from existing multi-land-use projects and eco-villages as well as sustainable urban design and permaculture principles we offer recommendations that can take the impact of Great Stage Park on the local economy and land to the next level.
