About
Welcome! My name is Jess and I am currently a Master's Candidate of Global Sustainability at the University of South Florida's Patel College of Sustainability. My background is in hospitality and events and I have a Bachelor's degree in Event Management from the University of Central Florida. I have seen first-hand the waste in food service, the mistreatment of hospitality workers, and the environmental effects that tourism can create. After eight years of working in the hospitality industry and becoming more involved in my own community, I realized my true passion lies in the intersectionality between social, environmental, and economic justice. My academic concentration is specifically in Food Sustainability and Security, but the work you will read here covers a range of topics from climate change, displacement, regenerative agriculture, eco-tourism, and more. These writing pieces focus on using lessons from the past - good and bad - to find solutions for a more just and sustainable future.
